Life once upon a time

Venetian's life in the Lagoon was (much like today) so different in terms of needs compared to the hinterlanders that it saw the development of highly specific jobs and occupations like I Battipali , who to this day plant tree trunks in the mud to build the foundations of Venetian houses, Palaces and Churches. Even everydaily tools such as wooden washboards had a duble use and were given to children learning to swim.
